The YMCA offers American Red Cross (ARC) CPR & First Aid training. Certifications and training classes are offered in two formats:

  • Traditional classroom
  • Blended—lessons are completed online and skills are practiced in class

ARC Adult CPR/AED – Full course, online + classroom

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The courses in this program teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person when minutes matter, and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed.  It is designed for students who need a certification that satisfies OSHA, workplace or other regulatory requirements.

Participants will learn:

  • Basic life-saving training including CPR, the use of an AED, and the relief of choking for adult patients.

The goal of this skills-based training is to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond in a medical emergency.

To achieve certification, participants must score 80% or better on the written exam, and demonstrate all knowledge and skill objectives. Upon completion of course, participants will be issued the following certifications: Adult CPR/AED. Certification is valid for 2 years.

This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (accessed via mobile, desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the Instructor-led skills session.
